Postpartum Bengkung Belly Binding Workshop
Sunday, October 1, 2023
9:00am - 1:00pm
Bengkung Belly Binding is a Malaysian postpartum method of wrapping the birther's abdomen in a long narrow piece of muslin or light weight cloth. Wrapping the belly can be a supportive daily ritual in a birther's postpartum experience. This technique aids the body to heal and recover often in a shorter time period.
A sacred belly wrap provides a birther's body with 360 degree support to assist the abdominal wall muscle retraction, improve posture, stabilize loosened ligaments, allow for ease in the pelvic floor and provide support to the torso while vital organs rest and reconfigure.
Join holistic postpartum care specialist, Christine Anderson, for a hands on experience into the art of belly binding for postpartum care.
This workshop covers:
- anatomy and transitions of the body through pregnancy into postpartum
- the history of the belly binding tradition globally
- foundations of Ayurveda
- the Sacred Window
- hands on practice of Bengkung belly binding
- contraindications for belly binding
- instructions to make your own wrap
This workshop is appropriate for those who are looking to learn self-binding techniques, as well as birth and postpartum support professionals looking to expand their offerings for clients. Each participant receives one Bengkung wrap of choice and detailed resource handouts. Additional wraps are available at 30% off for participants on the day of the workshop only. Light snacks, tea and water provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and beverages.
